Many would think chef and actor Valerie Bertinelli would go all-out on the food for the Thanksgiving holiday and spend hours in the kitchen. It's the exact opposite, as she reveals her son's tour schedule has led to some "interesting" holiday feasts.
In an interview with People, Bertinelli says Thanksgiving has become anything but traditional because of her son, Wolfgang Van Halen, being on the road with his band Mammoth.
"So the first Thanksgiving, I think it was four years ago, we had Thanksgiving in Milan with Alter Bridge, the band. And it was amazing. It was fun. Not a Turkey in sight though!"
Traveling on the road with her son has been a whirlwind, with Bertinelli sometimes forgetting where she was during the holiday. She admits that it's become a special and heartwarming time for her and isn't bothered by it at all.
"And then last year we were in Secaucus [New Jersey] at a Houlihan’s and it was so much fun," she said.
"We all sat at the bar because the restaurant was full and they sat all of us, the band, everyone — my brother, my son, his wife — was there. It was fun. And this year I think we're going to be in Kansas City. I love it. So it's wherever Wolf's bus takes us, that's where we're going to be for Thanksgiving."
After Thanksgiving, the celebrity chef is looking forward to relaxing during December and having "great family time and animal time." She's also excited to film more episodes of The Drew Narrymore Show and her memoir's, Getting Naked, grand release.
Wolfgang Van Halen is the son of guitarist Eddie Van Halen, who also served as keyboardist, songwriter, and backup vocalist for the legendary rock band Van Halen. Bertinelli's son performed with his late father and uncle as the bassist for the band from 2007 until 2020.
After his father's death in 2020 and Van Halen's disbandment, Wolfgang focused on his solo project Mammoth. Their debut album was released in 2021, and they are currently on their "The End" tour, with their last show scheduled for early December.
