Lafayette, Butts, Reno, Corr, Weaver Earn FCS Football Awards (Week 12)

Opta Analyst’s FCS football coverage includes weekly national player and team honors throughout the regular season and will lead toward the annual season-ending Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show on Jan. 3, 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Duquesne’s Taj Butts, Southeastern Louisiana’s KK Reno, Harvard’s Kieran Corr and Monmouth’s Frankie Weaver were selected on Monday as the Stats Perform FCS National Players of the Week for Week 12 college football games this past weekend.

In addition, the Lafayette Leopards were named the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week.

The weekly honors lead up to the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show on Jan. 3 in Nashville, Tennessee. The season-ending awards are in their 39th year.

The five honorees plus honorable mention selections for the FCS football awards:

FCS National Offensive Player of the Week

    Taj Butts, Duquesne, RB, R-Sr., 5-11, 205

Butts hadn’t played in four weeks before returning with 254 rushing yards and three touchdowns in Duquesne’s 38-33 win over Central Connecticut State, which denied the Blue Devils from clinching NEC Football’s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. He averaged 18.1 yards on 14 carries, scoring on runs of 29, 57 and 59 yards. His final score with 3:19 left came just two plays after CCSU had taken a 33-32 lead.

Honorable Mention: Kente Edwards, RB, Lafayette; Antwain Littlejohn Jr., RB, Rhode Island; Rashad Rochelle, WR, Indiana State

FCS National Defensive Player of the Week

KK Reno, Southeastern Louisiana, LB, Sr., 6-0, 220

One week after racking up 16 tackles, Reno went one better with a career-high 17 as Southeastern Louisiana stymied UIW’s offense for a 10-7, Southland Conference win, which boosted the Lions’ playoff resume. It was Reno’s fourth straight and seventh overall game this season with double-figure tackles, and his performance included nine stops in the fourth quarter, five solos and 1.5 for loss. He also broke up a third down pass, forcing UIW into a punt.

Honorable Mention: Sean Allison, LB, Drake; Cooper Blomstrom, DE, Georgetown; Caden Dowler, DB, Montana State; Antonio Epps, DB, Duquesne; Josiah Harris, DB, Gardner-Webb; Shane Hartzell, LB, Villanova; Abu Kamara, S, Yale; Maximus Mongelli, DB, Sacred Heart; Tye Niekamp, LB, Illinois State; Mike Wells, LB, Youngstown State

FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week

Kieran Corr, Harvard, PK, So., 6-3, 185

Completing one of the wilder games of the FCS season, Corr’s career-best 53-yard field goal as time expired lifted unbeaten Harvard past Penn 45-43 and to at least a share of the Ivy League title. He had 15 previous field goals in his career, but none had been longer than 38 yards. Corr also was 6 for 6 on extra points and handled seven kickoffs. On Saturday, Harvard (9-0) will visit rival Yale to determine the Ivy’s first-ever FCS playoff bid.

Honorable Mention: Michael Berarducci, P, Duquesne; Andrew Brown, PK, North Carolina A&T; Trayjen Llanas-Wilcox, Return/WR, Campbell; Khalid Moore, DL, Southeastern Louisiana; Luis Palenzuela, PK, Holy Cross; Jackson Williams, Return/WR, North Dakota State

FCS National Freshman Player of the Week

    Frankie Weaver, Monmouth, QB, R-Fr., 6-5, 215

Weaver tied the program record with six touchdown passes and passed for a career-high 428 yards as Monmouth rolled to a 63-19 win at North Carolina A&T. He completed 19 of 27 attempts, which included three TDs over 50 yards and an average of 22.5 yards per completion. His 276.9 pass efficiency rating was the second highest in CAA Football and the eighth best in the FCS this season.

Honorable Mention: Jackson Byrd, QB, ETSU; Rashawn Cunningham, WR, Charleston Southern; Tony Diaz, WR, UTRGV; Colby Frokjer, PK, Montana State; Nick Herman, RB, Drake; Shane Lee, RB, Nicholls; Montreze Smith Jr., LB, Austin Peay; Mitchell Summers, RB, Sacred Heart

FCS National Team of the Week

    Lafayette (35-28 win at Richmond)

Kente Edwards rushed for 265 yards and two touchdowns (61 and 70 yards) and Dean DeNobile threw two of his three scoring passes to Nick Bierman as Lafayette won 35-28 at Richmond in the Patriot League. Ryan Gadson had nine tackles and five pass breakups to fuel the defense. Coach John Troxell’s 8-3 squad next hosts rival Lehigh on Saturday for the PL title and an automatic FCS playoff bid.

Honorable Mention: Prairie View A&M (56-9 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff); Stephen F. Austin (26-15 win over Lamar)
