The Chicago Bears almost coughed up another double-digit lead to the Minnesota Vikings. But some unexpected heroes turned what would have been a demoralizing road loss into a thrilling win that helps the team improve its record to 7-3. This team has as many wins in the first 10 games of Ben Johnson’s first season as head coach (7) as it did in Matt Eberflus’ best season back in 2023. Let that sink in for a mintue. Once it does, you can read the rest of this post.

Thoughts on another crazy win in Week 11
In case you missed it, this is how Devin Duvernay and Cairo Santos played the hero card in Week 11:Huge return by @Dev_Duv5! : FOX pic.twitter.com/gCe20RUm80

— NFL (@NFL) November 16, 2025 Perhaps I am being overdramatic when I say that Devin Duvernay and Cairo Santos might have saved some jobs with their late-game heroics. But you wouldn’t have had to work hard to make a case that the Bears would be better off making changes at kicker, in the return game, and in the special teams coaching department. Santos hooked a 45-yard field goal that would have made it a two-score game. Instead, Santos’ miss sparked a Vikings rally. But he *DID* make three other kicks (including a 54-yarder) before the game winner. So at least he had that going for him. As for Duvernay, his returns haven’t been as dazzling as they were when he was a Pro Bowler for the Baltimore Ravens. And there was a point earlier in the game when Roschon Johnson and Josh Blackwell were returning kicks. The Bears would be wise to host some tryouts this week — even if it is just to send a wake-up call.CHICAGO BEARS WEEK 11 INSTANT GRADES
That was an incredibly maddening win. That Minnesota almost pulled off another unthinkable comeback should sound some alarms at Halas Hall. The Bears had this one in hand until they didn’t. Offensively, Ben Johnson’s bunch controlled the line of scrimmage and the clock. Unfortunately, settling for field goals and not scoring touchdowns left the back door open for the Vikings to creep back into this one. As for that defense, it stifled J.J. McCarthy throughout the game to the point where the boo birds showed up. It should have never come down to the wire in the fourth quarter. Had they lost, I’m not sure how I would have written this post without an explicit content warning at the top. J.J. McCarthy was so bad on Sunday that it was easy to lose sight of what 2024 NFL Draft classmate Caleb Williams was doing when he was slinging the pigskin. The line for Chicago’s QB1: 16/32, 193 yards, 6.0 yards/attempt, 0 TD, 0 INT, 68.9 passer rating. That is a smidge better than the line of 16/32, 150 yards, 4.7 yards/attempt, 1 TD, 2 INT, 47.7 rating that J.J. McCarthy posted. UPDATED PLAYOFF ODDS: The Athletic’s NFL Playoff Simulator gives the Bears a 46 percent chance of making the playoffs with seven games remaining on their 2025 regular-season schedule. That number could change depending on how things shake out in other games. We’ll monitor that number and provide an update tomorrow. Austin Booker — It was a quiet game for Austin Booker, who collected two tackles (one solo) and had one of the team’s five quarterback hits on JJ McCarthy. For as much pressure as Chicago was dialing up, this defense didn’t come away with any quarterback sacks. That shouldn’t have happened.
Rome Odunze — As expected, Rome Odunze was targeted a team-leading six times. Unfortunately, only two of those turned into receptions. Odunze finished with 41 yards, but the passing game was mostly quiet.
Luther Burden III — The rookie from Mizzou had one notable drop, but made up for it just plays later when he turned a 3rd-and-long screen pass into a first down. There wasn’t much happening in the passing game for either team.
WHAT’S NEXT: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers at noon CT on Nov. 23 at Soldier Field (CBS-TV)
Next up for the Bears is a date with Aaron Rodgers (?) and the Pittsburgh Steelers. So if you thought that you could use a breather after another heart-pumping game, just know that it isn’t coming. Moreover, your long-time nemesis is coming to town for what might be his final game at Soldier Field. There will be storylines to discuss all week long on that front. And we’ll get to them after we allow ourselves to exhale after beating the Vikings. Heck, I’m not all that sure we’ll know if Rodgers will suit up for this one because he sustained an injury in the Steelers’ 34-12 win against the Cincinnati Bengals. Stay tuned for more updates later.
