Robert Irwin has been testing his body during season 34 of Dancing With the Stars, and he admitted he's "starting to break down" amid the physically demanding experience.
“I am being held together by, like, tape, and my foot’s all bandaged up,” Irwin, 21, told People in an interview published on Saturday, November 15. “I’ve been doing all of the cryotherapy and the saunas and the Epsom salt baths, and, like, everything I can possibly do to try and keep my body in line.”
Despite doing everything he can to take care of his body, Irwin admitted, “Because, woo, it’s starting to break down a little bit, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
“You know, the fact that you get to give yourself 100 percent to this process to pour everything into it, it is just such a privilege,” he continued of his experience on the show. “I’m kind of becoming a dancer. Like, it’s a crazy, crazy thing to do in three months.”
Irwin is currently competing on DWTS with pro partner Witney Carson.
Carson, 32, recently opened up about her experience of dancing with Irwin during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, in which she reflected on competing against his older sister, Bindi Irwin, ten years earlier during season 21. While speaking to the outlet, Carson said she never thought she would ever ben partnered with Steve Irwin's son.
“Never in a million years, and I’ll tell you why — he was so little when he was there [during Bindi’s time on the show] and I had just gotten engaged. Our age gap was very, very big, so that wasn’t even something that came to my mind,” she said. “Even when [it] was announced earlier in the year that he was going to be on the show, I still didn’t think that we would be partnered together.”
The pro dancer added “it was honestly a true shock when he walked through the door when we first met [as partners].” Carson said, “That was my genuine reaction of just, like, Oh my gosh. Like, I have a Robert Irwin [as my partner.]”

While being partnered with Irwin was a surprise, she said she happy with the situation. “I’ve adored their family for years. I love Bindi, so it feels very full circle,” she said. “From the second that he walked into the room for the start of the season, it just felt automatically right and meant to be. So now that it’s happened, it feels right.”
Carson also admitted she felt “pressure” to do well on the show because Bindi, 27, previously won her season alongside partner Derek Hough.
“If there wasn’t any pressure, then we wouldn’t be as good as we are. We really try and live up to our best potential knowing that there’s inspiration,” she said. “Bindi’s been so lovely and nothing but supportive of everything that we do. She’s so proud of her brother and how far he’s come, and how hard he’s worked. The amount of support from her and his family has been incredible.”
