Katie Thurston is continuing to update her fans during her battle with stage 4 breast cancer.
The Bachelorette alum, 34, recently took to social media to share a health update as she continues to fight the disease, which she was diagnosed with back in February.
“I’ve been struggling with my health lately,” Thurston posted on her Instagram Story on Friday, Nov. 14. “Slow to recover. We thought maybe it was the air vents since we’re using our heaters more."
The reality star continued, "As renters, we have no idea how long it’s been since they’ve been cleaned, if ever. Today the heating units are being cleaned professionally and OMG I think this was the culprit. Friendly reminder to check your air quality of your home and stay on top of regular maintenance! And if you’re a renter like me, don’t be afraid to ask when the last time the air ducts have been cleaned. There are laws protecting us and our health."
Late last month, Thurston shared hopeful news about cancer journey on the SHE MD podcast that her targeted-therapy treatment is working — and her tumors are shrinking.
“I already had my 3-month rescan to see what is happening with the tumor, and it has shrunk, which means the treatment’s working,” she shared with hosts Mary Alice Haney and Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi.
The news got even better: The tumor in Thurston’s liver has shrunk so much that it’s no longer visible on scans. “The liver you can’t even see it on a scan, so no radiation or ablation on the liver,” she said on the podcast. “We’re just going to let the body keep doing what it’s doing.”
