2025 GERMAN SC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thursday, November 13th – Sunday, November 16th Wuppertal, Germany SCM (25m) SwimSwam Preview Recap #1/Recap #2 Results

Day three of the 2025 German Short Course Championships saw a quartet of national junior records bite the dust as swimmers pursued potential qualification for next month’s European Short Course Championships.

The women’s 100m backstroke saw 17-year-old Noelle Benkler get to the wall first, grabbing the gold in a new lifetime best of 58.88.

Splitting 13.99/14.71/15.21/15.06, Benkler held off Lisa Seidel by just a fingernail, with Seidel settling for silver in 58.90.

Lina Kröger rounded out the podium in 59.76, while newly minted 50m fly national record holder Angelina Köhler produced 1:00.20 for 4th place.

Jan Malte Graf was too quick to catch in the men’s 50m breaststroke, denying big guns Melvin Imoudu and Lucas Matzerath the gold.

The teen clinched the title in 26.57 for a new German national junior record, holding off Imoudu who touched only a hair behind in 26.58.

Matzerath was also right there in the mix, bagging bronze in 26.63.

Grafe’s effort cleared the QT of 26.57 for 23-and-under swimmers to etch their names onto the roster for Poland.

The other German age records came in the women’s 200m IM and 50m free.

In the former, it was Benkler yet again, claiming her 2nd gold of the session in a time of 2:10.34.

That beat the field by over a second as Hanna Bergman was next to the wall in 2:11.94 followed by Kellie Messel‘s effort of 2:12.67.

The U23 QT for Poland sits at 2:11.20, so Benkler dipped beneath that barrier in spades.

While Köhler claimed 50m free gold in 24.15 followed by Nina Jazy‘s result of 24.40, it was Leonie Mau who clocked a new age record of 25.05 on her way to bronze.
