“Aimless, Inc. Headquarters is heartbroken to share that our Founder, our Folk Hero, our Poet of the World, our Vice President of the Abrupt Change Dept., the Storyteller, our beloved Todd Daniel Snider has departed this world,” reads the post. “Where do we find the words for the one who always had the right words, who knew how to distill everything down to its essence with words and song while delivering the most devastating, hilarious, and impactful turn of phrases? Always creating rhyme and meter that immediately felt like an old friend or a favorite blanket. Someone who could almost always find the humor in this crazy ride on Planet Earth.”

Following the assault, Snider was arrested for disorderly conduct. The singer-songwriter was reportedly angry at the Salt Lake City Regional Hospital staff for being discharged, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by TMZ .

He was treated for injuries he sustained from the alleged assault outside his hotel, but authorities told him to leave the hospital after he yelled at the staff. He later returned and made “verbal threats” to the alleged victim and claimed he would “kick [their] ass.”

Snider was later arrested and taken to Salt Lake County Jail for a disorderly conduct charge.

Upon returning home to Tennessee last week, Snider was having trouble breathing and was taken to a hospital in Hendersonville, Tenn.

“We learned from his doctors that he had been quietly suffering from an undiagnosed case of walking pneumonia,” Snider’s team said in a statement  posted on Instagram on Nov. 14. “Our beloved brother’s condition has become more complicated, and he’s since been transferred for additional treatment. His care team and those closest to him are by his side and doing everything they can.”

Snider, who was born in Portland, Ore., released dozens of albums during his career and was initially signed to Margaritaville/MCA, a label that Jimmy Buffett ran with MCA Records. His 1994 debut album, Songs for the Daily Planet, reached No. 23 on Billboard’s Heatseekers new artist chart. He went on to record several other albums for independent labels over his career and his song “Talking Reality Television Blues” was recorded by Tom Jones in 2021. Also in 2021, Snider was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.
