Dave Hester has a new title — and it's not “the villain” this time.
The longtime Storage Wars star, known for his booming “Yuuuuup!” battle cry on the A&E series, revealed on Instagram that he’s officially a grandfather.
Hester shared a series of photos featuring himself and his mother each holding the newborn baby boy. The proud grandpa kept the caption simple and heartfelt, writing, “Another addition to the family.”

Hester — one of Storage Wars’ original breakout personalities — returned to the series for season 16 in 2025 after previously stepping away due to health issues, including a hemorrhagic stroke in 2018 that required intensive rehabilitation.
He told TMZ in 2019 that back in November 2018, he woke up feeling sick and was having trouble breathing. He later suffered a hemorrhagic stroke at the hospital, and tests revealed that he had severe sleep apnea; the oxygen deprivation from the sleep apnea, along with high blood pressure, caused the stroke.
His return this year marked a major comeback, and now he’s celebrating a new milestone off-screen.

On the show, Hester is best known for his competitive instincts, sharp bidding strategy and his signature catchphrase, which often rattles his fellow buyers. Season 16 reunited him with Brandi Passante, Ivy Calvin, Kenny Crossley, Rene and Casey Nezhoda, and other franchise favorites as they dove back into California’s abandoned storage units.
Neither Hester nor his family has revealed additional details about the baby boy, but fans were thrilled to see the usually tough-as-nails buyer showing a softer side in the photos.
