Just one day after fans saw The Golden Bachelor Season 2 star Mel Owens give his final rose to Peg Munson, he told Parade in an exclusive interview that she should be the first senior franchise person to be on Dancing with the Stars!
When asked if he would appear on the sister ABC reality TV show if asked, Mel replied, “I already nominated Peg. I want to see her first because I’m telling you, the girl can dance — spontaneously! She’s got rhythm, doing her thing. It’s so much fun to watch her dance.”
Mel told Parade how, since he gave her a commitment diamond ring on the Nov. 13 show, he’s been enjoying watching Peg dance in private. “I may have a good playlist. So, I go, ‘I know she’s going to like this playlist.’ Every song [that] comes on, she’s moving and grooving with it. It’s so much fun to watch her,” Mel said. “She can dance, so I’m nominating her [for DWTS].”

Golden Bachelor viewers got a tiny taste of Peg's moves when she danced with Mel during a KC and the Sunshine Band concert date during the season. But many fans might not know that Peg, 62, who lives in Las Vegas, belonged to a Sin City senior citizen dance group called “The High Rollers.” It’s the official dance team (composed of older men and women) for the Las Vegas Aces WNBA team.

Peg said, “A couple of years ago they decided to have a 50 and older dance team and there were about 200 women who auditioned and I tried out and there were 23 of us, 24 of us and I made it—”
Me, 66, smiled and affectionately interjected, “Of course you won!”

It was a wonderful experience and I [also] did a little show in Vegas back in 1991, ’92 at the Aladdin—I’m dating myself. It was called ‘Country Tonite.’ I danced on the strip for just a little bit. Mel’s girlfriend said she was dating herself because The Aladdin Hotel no longer exists in Vegas—it’s now Planet Hollywood. According to the Country Tonite website, the show eventually migrated to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, after Vegas and features country singing, dancing, and choreography. Peg could feel right at home at DWTS as the show had an official country night in 2018, and celebrities have performed many times in country-themed routines.

Could both Mel and Peg appear on DWTS? As viewers saw, Mel walked a little stiffly after years of playing football and wore special, comfortable tennis shoes throughout The Golden Bachelor.
