“I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am for him,” Mikayla wrote on Instagram, praising her husband for his support as she navigated an unexplained chronic illness that affected her skin (and continues to do so). “He’s been my absolute rock through all of this, picked me up from my lowest points, and continues to be the best dad everyday.”

What has Mikayla Matthews said about being abused?
Mikayla has been open about the fact that she was sexually abused in her youth, and that she moved out of her mother’s house at age 15 because she felt her mom silenced and dismissed her experience. “I think I got pregnant literally a year, almost a year exactly after I moved out of my house at 15,” she told People. “And then I'm jumping into now being a mom and raising a kid at 16, 17. She goes on to say that, despite her progress in therapy, she has a lot of hangups around intimacy. “I feel like it’s starting to become a really big issue in our marriage now,” she says. “Jace is so amazing at taking care of my needs, and I feel really guilty that I can’t do that for him. And I feel like we’re both kind of at this crossroad of we don’t know how to move forward right now.”
