Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo just gave us an early candidate for best performance of the 2025-26 NCAA basketball season.
The Fighting Irish guard led her team to an 85-58 victory over the Akron Zips on Wednesday night, giving them their third consecutive win. She dropped a Notre Dame record 44 points on 16-25 shooting from the field to go along with 9 rebounds and 4 assists. But, wait, it gets so much more impressive!
Hidalgo broke an NCAA record – male or female – for total steals in a game. Her 16 takeaways surpassed the previous record of 14, which was last hit by Georgia Tech’s Jill Ingram in 2008. Oh, and she managed to do all of that in only 28 minutes of action, which were the second-fewest minutes played by any member of the team’s starting five.
