L.A. Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow opens Nov. 13 night with a “holiday themed wonderland” that zoo officials say is a “weird and wonderful world of plants and pollinators featuring larger than life birds, butterflies, insects and flowers; glowing lanterns depicting wildlife of Southeast Asia; and an African landscape that includes representation of the continent’s iconic regions and wildlife.”
Running through Sunday, Jan. 11, the night event includes large-scale lantern sculptures of animals and other natural elements, which are illuminated with LED lights and placed along a mile of pathways. The displays are showed after the zoo is closed to the public.
The event includes a giant walk-in kaleidoscope, riding the conservation carousel, photo-ops throughout the park, and meeting Santa Claus. Those 21 and older can enjoy beer, wine, and spiked hot cocoa, and credit card bars are open Friday through Sunday. L.A. Zoo Lights will be closed most Mondays and Tuesdays.
