Six-time Mississippi State champion Kaia Robinson has verbally committed to Houston as a part of the Cougars’ 2027 recruiting class.
I am incredibly blessed and beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career swimming D1 at the University of Houston!!! First and foremost, I want to thank God without His grace, strength, and guidance, none of this would be possible. Every step of this journey has been a reminder of His plan, and I am so grateful for the doors He has opened for me to be able to pursue swimming at the collegiate level. I also want to thank my lovely family for being my biggest supporters my mom, whose constant prayers and love have carried me through every challenge. My dad, for believing in me even in the moments I didn’t believe in myself. Bebe, for always keeping me grounded and reminding me what really matters, and my sister, Gabbi for being my #1 supporter and biggest cheerleader from the very beginning. I love you all more than words can ever express.
Robinson hails from Cordova, Tenn., but swims for Desoto Central High School in Southaven, Miss. As a junior, Robinson captured her fifth and sixth Mississippi state championship titles. At the 2025 MHSAA Class 3 State Championships in October, Robinson won the 50 free in 23.76 and the 100 fly in 56.97; her 100 fly was just off of her best time from the SE GPAC Gravy Bowl Invitational in November of 2024 in 56.69.
The year prior, Robinson claimed her first two Mississippi Class 3 titles, and 3rd and 4th overall titles, winning both the 50 free in a best time of 23.63, and the 100 back in 55.85, setting a lifetime best in that event as well.
As a high school freshman, Robinson earned her first two state championship titles at the MHSAA Class 2 State Championship. Claiming both the 50 free (24.56) and the 100 free (53.70).

Based on Robinson’s best times, she would have finished 40th in the 50 free, 49th in the 100 free, and 34th in the 100 back.
Robinson will have the chance to be a future contributor for the Cougars, as her best times would have ranked 4th on last season’s Houston team in the 50 free, showing some signs of possible relay opportunities with the Cougars.
Robinson joins McKennah Greer in Houston’s 2027 recruiting class.
