For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Nation’s Capital’s Michael Zhou has verbally committed to Boston College for the 2026-2027 season.
Zhou was previously committed to Army West Point prior to his recent flip to Boston College.
I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Boston College. I would like to thank my coaches, friends, family, and teammates for supporting me along the way and also the BC coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity! GO EAGLES #forboston
Zhou hails from Great Falls, Va., and represents Langley High School. As a junior, Zhou finished 3rd in both the 100 back (49.38) and 200 IM (1:49.69) at the VHSL Class 6 State Championships, clocking lifetime bests in both races in the process.
Zhou closed out his summer at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in Greensboro (LCM). He set long course bests in both sprint backstrokes, clocking 26.90 in the 50 back, placing 13th, and 57.14 in prelims of the 100 back, advancing to finals, where he later finished 14th in 57.58.
Along with his sprint backstroke speed, Zhou holds a number of other middle-distance bests, including his 200 back of 1:46.61 from the Shamrock Showdown in March, his 200 free best of 1:40.63 from the PV NCAP Invitational in December, and his 3:58.41 in the 400 IM from the NCSA Spring Championships in March of 2024.
Best Times SCY:
100 Back: 49.38 200 Back: 1:46.61 200 IM: 1:49.69 400 IM: 3:58.41 200 Free: 1:40.63The Boston College men finished 13th at the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Based on Zhou’s best times, he would have finished 42nd in the 100 back, 43rd in the 200 back, and 50th in the 200 IM at those championships.
Zhou’s backstroke will be a valuable addition to the Boston College team; his 100 back would have ranked 2nd on last season’s team, while his 200 back would have been the fastest on Henry Zhou the roster.
Zhou will join Julien Lee, Peyton Harrison, Demir Ayrikaya, and Austin Ross in Boston College’s 2026 recruiting class.
