Aryna Sabalenka didn’t take home the WTA Finals crown, but she appears fully unbothered — and very, very sun-kissed.
On Wednesday, November 12, the 27-year-old tennis pro took to Instagram with a cheeky Maldives photo drop, trading the pressure of championship points for palm trees, bright turquoise water, and a teeny-tiny bikini. The carousel shows Sabalenka reading a book on a towel, playing beach volleyball, smiling in the sand, and posing on a swing. “Time to chill ??️,” she wrote.
The comments rolled in immediately. “On and off the court, always number 1?,” one fan wrote. “Enjoy your well-deserved rest ????,” another added. “Beautiful just beautiful,” chimed in a third.

Sabalenka’s Maldives reset comes right after the 2025 WTA Finals wrapped in Riyadh on November 8. The Finals bring together the top eight players of the season — a full week of pressure, round-robin matches, and some of the biggest prize money in tennis. Sabalenka fought all the way to the championship match, where she faced Elena Rybakina. Rybakina, 26, ultimately took the title in straight sets, ending Sabalenka’s run just one win shy of the trophy.

The Belarusian star didn’t linger on the heartbreak. Her mind was already drifting somewhere sunnier. “Can we do it quick? I want to go to [the] Maldives,” Sabalenka joked in her press conference, before turning serious long enough to praise Rybakina. “[Rybakina] played incredible," she said. "I feel like I did my best today…I’m leaving this tournament without any disappointment.”
And then she circled right back to that vacation she’d been eyeing all week. “The good thing is that I’m always there,” she laughed. “The bad thing this season is that I lost most of the biggest finals I made. So I guess I’ll just sit back in the Maldives having my probably tequila and think back and try to analyze my behavior, my emotions.”
Meanwhile, the new WTA Finals champ celebrated her win with a trophy shoot, a cake, and an emotional Instagram thank-you to the people around her. “What. A. Week,” she wrote. “So proud of how far we’ve come. Thank you so much @wtafinalsriyadh for such an event and incredible atmosphere! I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the season.”
