80s Glam Rock Legend Admits Some Regret Over Pitching His Band’s 50th Anniversary Reunion

Dee Snider admitted he can’t believe he suggested a 50th anniversary tour with Twisted Sister. In November 2025, the glam rock legend spoke out on Steve and Rik’s Potcast and explained why he pitched the idea to hit the road with his former bandmates for the first time since 2016.

“Why am I doing a reunion with Twisted Sister?” Snider, 70, said on the podcast. "I’ll say that it was my idea. The [other] guys [in the band] couldn’t even believe I was making the call. And it had to do with… I had a little bit of a health scare. It was okay, but it was enough to make me say, ‘Wow, that was weird.’ I never had to think about those things before. And I’m 70 years old, and I’m, like, ‘Do I wanna go out like that, go silently, or do I wanna go kicking and screaming?’”

Snider revealed that he called founding guitarist Jay Jay French and guitarist Eddie Ojeda and asked them, “What do you think about getting together?”

“And they couldn’t believe I was suggesting it, because I told them, it’s not happening, will never happen,” the singer continued.  "But... emotional circumstances made me change my mind. Am I regretting it? A little bit right now, sorry to say.”

During the interview, Snider said that while his voice is still powerful, he has lost some of his “top notes.” He also admitted that long shows are “a lot to carry.”

“I’m great for four songs,” he said. “But 90 minutes, 75 minutes, 60 minutes. That’s a lot.’ But, yeah, it’s a lot to carry. …I’m gonna start weekly rehearsing the set with a local band, just to get going.”

“I’m [either] brave or stupid,” he added of the tour commitment. “I never wanna be that guy where people go, ‘Yeah, time’s passed,’ and make people feel old, just looking at me on stage. …I feel a great weight to make sure I’m in shape, to make sure my voice is in shape and start rehearsing those three, four, five, 10 songs, to get there and not let people down. I don’t wanna do it.”

In September, Twisted Sister announced the tour to mark their 50th anniversary. In a surprise post on Instagram the band announced that lead singer Snider, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda, bassist Russell Pzütto, and drummer Joe “Seven” Franco would “hit stages around the world” for a reunion tour in 2026.

The full tour lineup hasn’t been released yet, but some dates have been posted on the band’s official Instagram. One of the first gigs will take place at Barcelona Rock Fest from July 3 to 5. Twisted Sister will also headline other shows at European festivals and some dates in the United States, per Ultimate Classic Rock.
