2025 CHINESE NATIONAL GAMES
Monday, November 10th – Monday, November 17th (swimming) Shenzhen, China LCM (50m) Prelims at 9am local (8pm previous night ET)/Finals at 7pm local (6am ET) Day 1 Recap/Day 2 Recap/Day 3 Recap Meet Central Results LivestreamThe 2025 Chinese National Games are well underway, with the third day of pool swimming action unfolding this evening from Shenzhen.
We’ve seen some impressive performances to the tune of the men’s 400m free World Junior Record at the hands of 18-year-old Zhang Zhanshuo, as well as the monster 2:07.41 Asian Record put up by 13-year-old Yu Zidi.
But veteran Sun Yang is also racing over the course of this competition, having taken on both the 400m and 200m freestyle races thus far.
In the former, the 33-year-old stopped the clock at a time of 3:49.53 to place 6th overall. Then in the latter, the Olympic champion was rendered disqualified, most likely due to a false start.
But these non-podium-placing performances haven’t fazed the controversial swimmer who served a 4+year ban for doping test violations.
The veteran now sees every race as an opportunity to better himself, both in and out of the water.
“Every race is the best test of my current form,” Sun told Chinese media yesterday. (Reuters) “There’s no regret. Once a race is over, tomorrow is a new beginning. No matter if it’s young athletes or our older generation, I believe we can all move forward and go further. “My persistence represents the final line of defence for my generation of athletes. I hope everyone will continue to look forward to a better, more complete version of Sun Yang in the pool. “When I was young, I wanted to win China’s first men’s swimming gold medal. Now, I want to break another barrier — to see how far an older athlete can go.” Unfortunately for Sun fans, the prolific swimmer dove in for the final of the men’s 200m free but was disqualified, most likely due to a false start.Read the full story on SwimSwam: Sun Yang Speaks Out On Racing At The 2025 Chinese National Games
