All of the Easter Eggs in the New Devil Wears Prada 2 Teaser Trailer

Film and fashion fans alike are going crazy on Nov. 12 after the release of the very first teaser trailer for the long-awaited The Devil Wears Prada 2. The short clip from the film, which is set to be released on May 1, 2026, shows Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep reprising their iconic roles as Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly. It's also chock-full of Easter eggs only true fans may spot. Scroll down to see them all!

The video shows scenes of grand parties, heels walking through an office, selecting clothing from a rack, and zipping up a dress before we see Andy joining Miranda in an elevator, with both looking as fabulous as ever.

The description of the trailer also reiterates the return of fan-favorite characters like Emily (Emily Blunt), Nigel (Stanley Tucci), Lily (Tracie Thoms), and Irv (Tibor Feldman) and new cast members including Kenneth Branagh who will play Miranda's new husband, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. Lady Gaga was also announced to be joining the cast in an undisclosed role.

The film is reported to feature Miranda grappling with a failing media industry and losing power at Runway as the times change. It's said she would come face-to-face with her former assistant Emily while chasing advertisers at a luxury conglomerate where Emily works as an exec. There's been no word as to what Andy will be up to in the film, but the trailer shows her looking sleek and fashionable, and seemingly comfortable interacting with Miranda, insinuating this isn't the first time they've crossed paths since the original, and that they may even possibly work together.

Used in the first film, Madonna's "Vogue" again appears as the soundtrack for the teaser trailer. While the magazine in the film is called Runway, it is clearly inspired by Vogue, as the original book's author, Lauren Weisberger, was an assistant to Vogue's editor-in-chief and loosely based it on her experiences. The song was always believed to be a nod to that, as well as a general fashion anthem.

    Miranda Priestly's Shoes

Miranda wears a gorgeous pair of studded red Valentino shoes in the trailer, a nod to the original film, where it's said that “Valentino had to make her [Met Gala] gown himself.”

The teaser trailer was released on Nov. 12, which also happens to be Hathaway's birthday. "It’s everyone’s birthday #43 #DWP2," she wrote on Instagram while sharing the first look at the upcoming film.

    "Took You Long Enough"

The only lines that appear in the teaser happen when Andy holds the elevator and enters with Miranda, greeting her with only her name, while Miranda responds, "Took you long enough." The quote is both a nod to fans' sentiments that the sequel took too long, coming 20 years after the original, and Miranda's infamous impatient demeanor. It's similar to the original film, where she says, “By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.”

    Florals for Spring

Banners at an event that appears to be the Met Gala say "Spring Florals" as the apparent theme, with massive flowers decorating the top of the iconic stairs. The theme is a nod to the iconic line from the first film where Miranda mockingly says, "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking."

    The Elevator

Miranda and Andy reuniting in the elevator mirrors one of the last scenes from the original film. In it, the duo seems to reach an understanding while standing silently in the elevator together. Andy recognizes their similarities and chooses a different path so she doesn't end up like Miranda, signified by her walking out of the elevator in the opposite direction. Now, here they are again, standing side-by-side with sly smiles on their faces. Fans will have to wait until May 1 to uncover what it means!
