Dolenz reflected on the journey The Monkees took together, both via their comedy show and their on-stage musical success. He recalled fellow Monkees member Michael Nesmith sharing, "When we first played, all by ourselves, it was like Pinocchio becoming a real little boy."
In the upcoming show, Dolenz explained, he aims to "look back and share with the fans the sheer joy of what we accomplished—and what it all means to so many."
Throughout the years since The Monkees stopped performing together, Dolenz has continued to take the stage to thrill fans.
He is currently wrapping up his "Songs and Stories Tour," which has a handful of shows remaining. In his shows, he performs a variety of songs that include some non-Monkees tunes.
In the upcoming 60th anniversary tour, all of the songs Dolenz performs will be from The Monkees' catalog.
