Jennifer Aniston says she and her Friends castmates long feared “that phone call” about Matthew Perry — and now, she’s opening up about the heartbreaking reality.
"It was so alarming and shocking, yet not shocking," Aniston, 56, told Elle in an interview published on Wednesday, November 12. "[The Friends cast and I] always said, 'I hope I never get that phone call.'"
Perry -- who was open about his decades-long battle with substance abuse -- died at the age of 54 in October 2023. He tragically drowned in the hot tub of his Pacific Palisades home after an accidental ketamine overdose.

"He was a brilliant human being and an extraordinary talent, loved deeply, and wanted happiness more than anything," Aniston added. "It makes me sad that he never really achieved that, because he deserved it."
The Morning Show star went on to say, "We miss him. He’s missed."
Following his death, Aniston shared a heartfelt tribute to her longtime friend, calling the loss "an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before."
