ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A conference on Wednesday at Monroe Community Hospital will explore what’s being done to prevent life-threatening complications of pregnancy or childbirth in the Rochester area.
The 14th annual Bernard Guyer, MD, Lecture Series and Special Public Health Grand Rounds is happening in the auditorium. It gets underway at 9:30 a.m. with a breakfast and runs through 1:45 p.m.
Researchers say the rate of pregnancy or childbirth complications for mothers who are Black in Monroe County has risen by 52% in the past decade (comparing the 2012-2014 time period and the 2021-2023 time period). For all Monroe County mothers, the number rose by 27%.
