Fans of the Now You See Me movie franchise are gearing up for the third installment, Now You See Me: Now You Don't. The third film in the series will bring in a set of fresh new faces to the game as well as a new villain. Now You See Me premiered in 2013 with the sequel arriving three years later in 2016 to a similarly strong box office.

The original Now You See Me premiered in 2013 and the follow-up, Now You See Me 2, came out in 2016. The third film took a little longer to make, getting caught up in industry-wide delays including the COVID-19 pandemic and entertainment industry strikes.

For those rusty on their Now You See Me lore, the second film ended with the Four Horsemen, the central team of magicians in the franchise, exposing a technology tycoon played by Daniel Radcliffe. After wrapping up the mystery at the heart of the sequel, Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo), the former FBI agent who became the Four Horsemen's handler, was appointed as the new head of the Eye, a secret society of magicians.

Jesse Eisenberg (J. Daniel Atlas)
The top-billed member of the first two films, Jesse Eisenberg returns for Now You See Me: Now You Don't, playing a member of the magicians group known as the Four Horsemen. Eisenberg is best known for his roles in The Social Network and A Real Pain, both which garnered him Academy Award nominations for Best Actor (The Social Network) and Best Original Screenplay (A Real Pain).

In Now You See Me 2, he also played his evil identical twin. Harrelson is best known for his run on Cheers, which earned him an Emmy Award. He was nominated for an Oscar for his roles in The People vs. Larry Flynt, The Messenger, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. His more recent credits includes True Detective, The Hunger Games, and White House Plumbers.
Morgan Freeman (Thaddeus Bradley)
Freeman played a magic debunker in the first two movies who was eventually revealed to be a member of the Eye as well. One of Freeman's earliest roles was on a kids show called Electric Company. He is probably best known for his work on Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption, and Million Dollar Baby, the latter earning him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. At 88, Freeman shows no signs of stopping. He is currently a series regular on Lioness opposite Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana.

Dave Franco (Jack Wilder)
Dave Franco returns as the Four Horsemen's sleight-of-hand expert. While he appeared to die in Now You See Me, he actually faked his death and returned for the sequel. Franco is best known for his roles on Scrubs, 21 Jump Street, and The Afterparty. He is the youngest of three brothers with all three being actors.
Fun Fact: Franco is married to fellow actress Alison Brie.

While Radcliffe is listed in the credits, it's unclear how large or small his role will be in Now You See Me: Now You Don't. He played the antagonist of the second film, but was defeated by the Four Horsemen in the end. Best known as the titular character in the Harry Potter movies, Radcliffe recently won a Tony Award for his role in Merrily We Roll Along. His more recent roles include Miracle Workers and playing the title character in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

In the first film, Rhodes appears to be an FBI agent sent to take down the Four Horsemen, but he is later revealed to be a mastermind and member of the secret organization known as the Eye. In the second film, he works with the Horsemen and becomes leader of the Eye. While he is listed in the credits, neither he nor Radcliffe appear in the trailers so it's unclear if he has a larger role in the film or if his appearance is just a cameo to move the story along. Ruffalo is best known for his roles as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the Marvel franchise of movies, 13 Going on 30, and Just Like Heaven. His more recent credits include Mickey 17, All the Light We Cannot See, and Task.

Sessa's first professional role was in The Holdovers. He stars in the upcoming holiday movie, Oh. What. Fun. opposite Michelle Pfeiffer and Denis Leary.

The only main cast member of the first two films not returning for the third is Michael Caine. The 92-year-old announced in 2023 that he'd retired from acting.
Lizzy Caplan was brought in for the second film after Isla Fisher was pregnant at the time of filming. It's unclear how her character will be written out and Fisher's brought back in.
Who is the director of Now You See Me: Now You Don't?
As often happens in action movie franchises, there’s a new director for Now You See Me: Now You Don't. While the first was directed by Louis Leterrier and the second by Jon M. Chu, the third is helmed by Ruben Fleischer. Chu was originally set to direct again, but likely had to bow out because of his commitments to Wicked and Wicked: For Good.
Fleischer’s notable works include Zombieland (2009) and its sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap (2019), which featured both Eisenberg and Harrelson. He also directed Uncharted (2022), Venom (2018) and Gangster Squad (2013).
