General Hospitaljust dealt fans an unexpected blow with Ned’s (Wally Kurth) heart attack.
After arguing with Drew (Cameron Mathison) about the Quartermaine family heirlooms the congressman stole, Ned suffered a heart attack as Drew walked away and left him for dead. That’s right, despicable Drew strikes again.

Thankfully, Gio (Giovanni Mazza) found Ned as Emma (Braedyn Bruner) called 911, and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) saved the day. However, at the hospital, Lucas (Van Hansis) revealed to Ned’s family that he wasn’t out of the woods yet.
Ned needs major heart surgery, which has brought up the question of whether he’s going to die. The good news for General Hospital fans is that Kurth has not given any indication that he plans to leave the show.
Kurth has been pulling double duty on General Hospital and Days of Our Lives for decades and loves playing both Ned and Justin. The powers that be have not spoken out regarding Kurth’s status with the show.

Given that Kurth is a longtime fan-favorite on the soap, all signs suggest that Ned isn’t actually in danger, and this medical crisis is just another dramatic plot twist. Plus, killing off Ned right after Monica (Leslie Charleson) died is too much, even in soap land.
However, there are a couple of good reasons for Ned's heart attack storyline.
One, is that it will give Gio a reason to reconnect with his Quartermaine family. Gio has kept them at arm’s length after learning that Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) are his biological parents.
