“I remember being in therapy and my therapist asked me, ‘Before we even dive into this, you need to decide is this something you want to work out or something you don’t want to work out?’” Whitney shared on an episode of “The Squeeze” podcast in September 2024. “I never had taken a step back and thought that for myself because in Mormon culture, it’s like, ‘No divorce.’”
Ultimately, she chose to stay with her husband out of desire, not obligation. “It was something I really had to sit down [and think] ‘Did I want to rebuild this trust?’” she recalled. “That doesn’t mean that things aren’t still triggering to me. When it is, then I’m going to work it out and just keep moving forward.”

How did Whitney and Conner Leavitt meet?
According to an interview with Vulture, the pair met in 2015, when they were both acting as wingmen on a double date (the other couple didn’t last). But weirdly enough, Whitney met Conner’s family years before then, when she lived in Georgia (Conner’s home state) for her Mormon mission. “It’s just coincidence. How cool is that?” Whitney told Vulture. “I remember being in his home.”
They exchanged vows after a year of dating in a Mormon temple in Provo, Utah.

In the first season of Mormon Wives, Whitney admitted to her fellow MomTokers that her husband had been on Tinder — where he carried out inappropriate online relationships with other users — for their entire marriage, and that they’d in fact moved to Hawaii to salvage their relationship. Conner owned up to his mistakes and later shared in the Season 2 reunion that he was sexually assaulted as a child. Rumors spread online that Conner was on Grindr, not Tinder, and that he and Whitney are in a “lavender marriage,” i.e. a heterosexual relationship where one or both partners are using their marital status to hide their true sexuality. As of a May 2025 interview with Vulture, Conner was working at a “newly formed hedge fund.” Because his managers are based in Dubai, he gets to work from home and splits child care with his wife.
