A-List stars Matthew McConaughey and Michael Caine are cashing in on the AI movement, as they both inked a deal with an AI audio company ElevenLabs.
New York-based ElevenLabs is launching the "Iconic Voices Marketplace," according to Variety. The tech company will reportedly "allow brands to partner with the company and use officially licensed celebrity voices for AI-generated usage."
"For years, I’ve lent my voice to stories that moved people – tales of courage, of wit, of the human spirit," the Dark Knight star said in a statement. "Now, I’m helping others find theirs. With ElevenLabs, we can preserve and share voices – not just mine, but anyone’s."
According to Caine, ElevenLabs is not trying to "replace" human voices, but rather it's using "innovation" to "amplify them."
For McConaughey, the company will be allowed to use his iconic voice to AI generate a Spanish version of his newsletter, Lyrics of Livin', the Guardian reported.
"Since our first conversation, I’ve been impressed by how the ElevenLabs team has taken the magic of the core technology and turned it into products that creators, enterprises and storytellers use daily," the True Detective star said in a statement. "I launched my newsletter, ‘Lyrics of Livin’, as a way to share stories and ideas in my own voice with those who want to listen. Now, thanks to ElevenLabs, ‘Lyrics of Livin’’ is expanding with a Spanish language edition, allowing us to reach and connect with even more people. To everyone building with voice technology: keep going. You’re helping create a future where we can look up from our screens and connect through something as timeless as humanity itself — our voices."
Caine and McConaughey join a long list of late Hollywood icons whose voices are part of ElevenLabs marketplace, including John Wayve, Judy Garland and Rock Hudson.
Laurence Olivier, Amelia Earhart, Babe Ruth, Mark Twain and Thomas Edison are also available on the platform.
