It's been nine years since the Four Horsemen used their magic expertise to foil the dastardly plans of villain Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe) in Now You See Me 2. After numerous delays due to the pandemic, fans are psyched for their comeback in Now You See Me: Now You Don't. The third installment will feature the original gang of Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, and Morgan Freemanreturning as members of the Eye.
The actors have also expressed their excitement about making the third film, with Eisenberg telling Entertainment Tonight that "the cast is amazing, the story is so fun and complicated in a really fun, puzzle way. And it's just a pleasure to be in these movies." However, when Freeman was asked why he was revisiting the franchise, his response was a bit more cheeky.
"Money, money, money, money, moneyyyyy. I get paid," the 88-year-old told Entertainment Tonight at the film's New York City premiere. After his blunt statement, he then added a more sentimental reason. "It's a terrific movie, and we bonded."
Despite his seemingly harsh response, Freeman has previously expressed his fondness for his Now You See Me castmates. "We've done this twice before, so it's like you're just putting on a favorite pair of shoes, very comfortable," he told Today. "We don't have any ego problems, nothing like that is going on. We know what to expect from each other."
In the third installment of the franchise, J Daniel Atlas (Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Harrelson), Jack Wilder (Franco), and Henley Reeves (Fisher) reprise their roles as the four magicians who decide to take on a new criminal mastermind. This time, the villain is Veronika Vanderberg, played by Rosamund Pike.
According to the synopsis, they "are back — to unite with a new generation of illusionists (Justice Smith, DominicSessa, Ariana Greenblatt) for their most global, high-stakes magical adventure yet. Their mission: Expose the corruption of Veronika Vanderberg (Pike), a powerful diamond heiress with ties to arms dealers, traffickers, and warlords."
Now You See Me: Now You Don't is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who also directed Eisenberg and Harrelson in Zombieland and Zombieland: Double Tap. It premieres in theaters on November 14.
