MANCHESTER, N.Y. — A ceremony was held Tuesday to honor Air Force Technical Sgt. Kory Wade, with a portion of State Route 21 in Manchester dedicated in his memory.
Wade, a 2008 Red Jacket High School graduate, lost his life during a training mission in Arizona in 2023. He grew up in the Manchester-Shortsville area.

“Today as we dedicate this portion of route 21 in his name….we create a lasting tribute to a life that was defined by service and sacrifice,” said Senator Pam Helming. “There is no more fitting moment than on Veterans Day to honor Kory and his family in this way.”
Wade entered active duty service after graduating from Red Jacket. He received many awards, such as the Air and Space Commendation Medal, Air and Space Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Air and Space Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and U.S. Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon.
The newly named highway is located between State Route 96 to Latting Road and Standpipe Road.
