The Greeley Youth Hockey Association and its Greeley Bears squads got off to a successful start to its winter club season this past weekend.
The 10U Gold Bears traveled to Denver University to play the Crimson Pioneers and picked up a 10-0 win. Bradley Evans recorded a shutout in goal, while Lucas Darnell, Aiden Daprile, Jackson Harding, Kaleb Betz, Liam Kostrewa, Gage Prim, Odin Salisbury and Max Grell scored goals for the Bears.
In an early Sunday game at the Greeley Ice Haus, the 10U Blue Bears earned a 7-3 win against NCYH Yellow. Zach West provided solid goaltending. Brayden Murray, Kane Kovtynovich, Sutter Bennett, Jaxon Warner and Grayson Green scored goals.
The Greeley Bears 12U Gold Team engineered an impressive comeback to tie the Laramie Outlaws 4-4 in the final seconds. Brooks Law and Jordan Garcia led the comeback with a goal and a hat trick, respectively.

The 14U Bears had back-to-back games this past weekend to kick off their winter season, picking up tight wins against the Arapahoe Warriors and the Littleton Hawks. Dakota Ketz and Jaxson Frezza scored goals.
The Bears 18U squad also played on both days of the weekend and went 1-1. They defeated the Arvada Gold 7-5 but lost to the Lafayette Locomotives 7-2. Matthew Chambers, Abby Guenthner, Elijah Francone, Chris Hoffstetter, Asher Koeller and Weylin Gardiner netted goals.
The Greeley Bears/GYHA is an affordable, nonprofit, recreational club for young athletes, 5 to 18 years old. It plays in the Colorado Recreational Hockey League and is an affiliate of the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association. It is also a member of USA Hockey.
