It only took a few hours, but Parade was finally able to confirm that the viral menu collaboration is happening and will drop in just a couple of weeks, following several other nostalgic releases (like the return of its fan-favorite Cini Minis, Halloween buckets, and debut of Scooby-Doo collectibles).
In a statement, a rep for the company told Parade, "Looks like word’s floated up from under the sea… we can confirm something fun (and square) is coming to Burger King on December 2."

According to the leaked screenshot that started it all, Burger King’s SpongeBob SquarePants collab includes a whole lot more than just food items, but entirely new, themed packaging and collectible toys that rival Wendy’s limited-edition Krabby Patty meal from last year.
Among the rumored additions are a SpongeBob Krabby Patty Whopper that features a square bottom bun and a limited-edition SpongeBob-patterned sandwich wrap. Mr Krabs’ Cheesy Bacon Tots, which drench BK tater tots in cheesy sauce and bacon bits, is also expected to hit menus in a Krusty Krab-style container.
The partnership is also said to be bringing two new sweet treats to participating restaurants: the Pirates Frozen Pineapple Float made with Fanta and Patrick’s Star-berry Shortcake Pie.
The fun doesn't stop there as both the Bikini Bottom Bundle (adult meal) and King Jr. meal will be served in boxes nearly identical to SpongeBob’s pineapple home, while to-go, à la carte items and drinks are rumored to be getting a makeover, served in custom bags and cups featuring the Bikini Bottom crew.
Despite Burger King sharing almost no information on the partnership, those in the know say the SpongeBob-themed menu items should be available individually or as part of a meal, just as past menu collabs have been.
Burger King's SpongeBob SquarePants menu will become available at participating locations beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 2, about two and a half weeks before the premiere of the new SpongeBob film, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. But only for a limited time, while supplies last.
