The Colorado High School Activities Association on Sunday released the 16-team Class 3A football bracket, and a trio of local teams made the cut.
Windsor (10-0) is the bracket’s top seed. There will be plenty of familiarity with the Wizards’ first-round matchup, as they will play host to fellow Weld RE-4 School District school Severance (4-6), which is the 16th seed.
These same two teams met in the regular season with Windsor walking away with a 14-3 win on its homefield on Sept. 19.
The winner of Saturday’s game moves on to the second round next week and will face whichever team emerges from a Friday first-round game between No. 8 Conifer (9-1) and No. 9 Pueblo South (8-2).
Longtime contender Roosevelt (7-3) is the sixth seed, and it will play No. 11 Pueblo County (7-3) at 7 p.m. Friday in Johnstown.
