Butterfly specialist Ewan Dalrymple has verbally committed to swim for Ohio State University beginning in the fall of 2027. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Dalrymple attends Westwood High School and trains with Columbia Swimming.
Dalrymple was ranked as one of SwimSwam’s “Best of the Rest” (BOTR) butterfliers in our Way Too Early Recruit Rankings for the Boys’ High School Class of 2027.

Representing Westwood High School, Dalrymple topped the field in the 100 fly at the 2024 SCHSL 5A D2 Championships (SCY), winning the state title in a time of 49.79, and also finished as the runner-up in the 500 free (4:38.90).
Dalrymple posted several lifetime bests at the 2025 Speedo Sectionals (SCY) in Cary, NC, in March. He won the 200 fly (1:46.25), finished as the runner-up in the 400 IM (3:55.16), 1000 free (9:11.17), and 1650 free (15:29.65), placed 3rd in the 500 free (4:30.67), 4th in the 100 fly (49.10), and 9th in the 200 back (1:48.02). All of these remain as personal bests except for his 200 fly performance.
In addition, Dalrymple swam the lead-off leg for Columbia Swimming’s 400 free relay (46.71) and 400 medley relay with a backstroke time of 51.83 at the meet, placing 12th and 14th, respectively. Both were personal bests, along with his prelims time in the 50 free (21.64).
Dalrymple earned his fastest 200 fly time the previous month at the South Carolina Senior SC Championship, where he triumphed in the event with a time of 1:46.05. He also won the 400 IM (3:57.89), 1000 free (9:14.57), and 1650 free (15:34.52). In addition, he finished 2nd in the 200 back (1:50.83), 4th in the 100 fly, 5th in the 500 free (4:40.67), and 10th in the 100 back (52.30).
Dalrymple was a finalist this past summer at Junior Nationals (LCM), securing 6th in the 200 fly (2:00.35), 12th in the 100 fly (54.44), 25th in the 800 free (8:16.99), and 27th in the 1500 free (15:56.86).

Dalrymple has the potential to help strengthen the Buckeyes’ butterfly group, particularly in the 200 fly. His fastest time is already less than two seconds behind the team’s best from last year, 1:44.15, held by junior Caleb Ellis, who has since transferred to Louisiana State University.
Dalrymple will head to campus in the fall of 2027 alongside Jackson Hartzler, Luke Collins, Colt Chaires, and Camren Turowski. He currently has the fastest times in both the 100 fly and 200 fly among the group.
