On Saturday evening, The White Stripes were inducted into the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by Iggy Pop. Jack White, one of the two members of the duo, accepted the honor. Meg White, who was married to Jack White from 1996 to 2000 and was the second half of the duo, left the public eye in 2011 and was not present at the ceremony.
"I spoke with Meg White the other day; she said she’s very sorry she couldn’t make it tonight, but she’s very grateful for the folks who have supported her throughout all the years," Jack White said in his acceptance speech. "To young artists, I want to say, get your hands dirty and drop the screens and get out in your garage or your little room and get obsessed. Get obsessed with something, get passionate. We all want to share in what you might create. I myself have been in a lot of bands that you’ve probably never heard of. But for some reason, people especially connected with this one two-piece duo project that I was in called the White Stripes. We don’t know why these things happen, but when they do, it’s the most beautiful thing you can have as an artist or musician when people are responding and sharing with you."

On Sunday, the 22-year-old singer posted a photo dump to her Instagram from Saturday night's events, honoring the band, and even revealing she ran a fan account dedicated to The White Stripes when she was just 13 years old.
"I had a white stripes fan account when I was 13 and last night I got to help induct them into the rock n roll hall of fame!!!!!" Rodrigo wrote in her caption. "What a surreal honor to sing one of their beautiful songs with wildly talented @feistmusic and celebrate music that means so much to me. thank u jack and meg for being the best band ever!!!!!!! ❤️???."

She admitted back in 2021 in an interview with Teen Vogue that White "is her hero," and at the time, she would be "too scared if he reached out to work together." In a feature with the New York Times published in 2023, the "vampire" singer revealed that she met White the year before, and he gave her great advice when her debut album, SOUR, became very popular.
White even posted about the day he met Rodrigo, which was during the young singer's stop in Nashville during her SOUR Tour.
"I had the chance to meet a talented singer and musician today named @OliviaRodrigo, she’s very cool, very real and very much a lover of music," White wrote in his caption in a photo he shared in May 2022. "She’s also introducing another set of youth to the love of vinyl records as well."
Rodrigo's love and tribute are just the latest reminders of how deeply The White Stripes and White have shaped her as an artist. The artist revealed last month that she is currently working on her third studio album. And with a new project on the horizon, her influences remain impossible to miss.
