BRIGHTON, N.Y. — The Roc City Girls Fest brought 166 teams to Rochester, making it the largest girls hockey tournament in North America.

“It’s awesome. You know, the teams coming together. Family, friends come with the players and take part,” Brian Oliver, tournament director, said.
Oliver, who travels the country setting up hockey tournaments for Premier Ice Prospects, highlighted the tournament’s unique appeal.
“Teams come from all over the US and Canada from East Coast, West Coast. Had a team from Florida. Had a team from California all over the place,” Oliver said.
The tournament spanned nine ice rinks, showcasing talent and speed from across the continent. The Pittsburgh Steel City Selects noted the variety of rinks as a positive experience.
“You don’t get bored of the same rink. You’re traveling all over again to experience new rinks,” a team member said.
Oliver explained the impact of winning such a large event.
“It for sure boosts their ego. You know, you look at who you’re playing, who you beat and teams that are involved in that championship game,” Oliver said.
Parents and players alike felt the excitement, with one parent sharing their daughter’s nerves before the games.
“My daughter is definitely her and her friends were nervous today coming out,” a parent said.
