NFL running back Christian McCaffrey’s wife, Olivia Culpo, is opening up about the emotional roller coaster of new motherhood — and how her beloved dog Oliver helped her through it.
The model and Next Gen Chef host shared a series of Instagram stories reflecting on her early postpartum weeks after welcoming daughter Colette Annalise in July. In one emotional photo, Culpo sat with tears in her eyes while holding her baby and cuddling the couple’s goldendoodle, Oliver Sprinkles.

“Emo me two weeks postpartum. Crying every day over Oliver,” she wrote. “Little did I know everything would be fine and both my babies would be best friends. You never know what's going to bring you down postpartum. Sometimes you get sad about things that seem tiny or don't even make sense. If you're in that vulnerable, weird spot right now, it's OK. Be gentle with yourself and consider this a big hug from me to you.”
Culpo has long joked that she’s a “crazy dog mom,” once showing off her nighttime routine for her best boy in a video for National Love Your Pet Day (we suspect that video was a little tongue-in-cheek... but maybe not).

In a follow-up slide talking about Colette and the dog, Culpo shared a happier snapshot of herself, Oliver, and the new baby together at a café, writing, “Both my babies!!! As a psycho dog mom, I had a really tough time PP [postpartum] with the guilt of thinking I wouldn't be able to care for Oliver the same way. Loving a dog means loving a little soul whose days move faster than ours. They are taken too fast… I try to make every moment count and include him every chance I get!”
Culpo and McCaffrey adopted Oliver in July 2020, and he’s been part of their family ever since. In fact, when they were planning their wedding in 2024, Culpo was asked on Instagram if Oliver would be a part of their wedding, and she wrote, "Yes! I really want him to be the ring bearer... TBD LOL."
Now, with baby Colette joining the family, Culpo’s latest posts show that her wish came true in more ways than one because Oliver has clearly stepped into his newest role — loyal big brother. Culpo has even brought little Colette to several 49ers games this season, complete with baby-sized noise-blocking headphones, showing that football Sundays are now a full family affair.
