Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla Vesia are mourning the devastating loss of their baby girl, Sterling Sol Vesia.
On October 23, the Los Angeles Dodgers shared that Vesia would be stepping away from the team ahead of the World Series due to a "deeply personal family matter." Two weeks later, the Vesias shared a joint statement, announcing that their daughter "went to heaven" on October 26.
The statement was posted across social media, even on TikTok, where they included the song "You Are My Sunshine" by Christina Perri. The melancholy tune seemed like the perfect way to honor the newborn, given that her middle name "Sol" means sun.
All eyes have been on Kayla's TikTok since the Dodgers made their initial statement about Vesia's family emergency. In fact, Kayla's celebratory post about her husband and the Dodgers heading to the World Series back on Oct. 18 went viral and currently has more than 6.8 million views.
The Vesias first announced their baby news back in April with a sweet post on social media.
"Baby Vesia coming soon, we are beyond excited for this next chapter," the couple captioned a joint post on Instagram on April 12. In the time since, Kayla has posted a number of pictures of her baby bump and she also uploaded some snaps from her "berry sweet baby girl" baby shower in June.
Alex and Kayla Vesia got married in January 2024.
