ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Welcome to the weekend! Saturday will be the drier of the weekend days, with nothing more than a brief passing lake effect rain shower. It’ll be a little breezy, with temperatures in the mid 40s. Some showers will begin to move in Saturday night, with off and on rain on Sunday as a warm front and then a cold front pass through the region. It’ll be a little breezy at times, but wind won’t be an issue. Temperatures may reach into the 50s south of Rochester, and likely remain in the 40s north. As the low moves away, it’ll start to turn much cooler, then colder for next week.
Rain will begin to change to snow showers Sunday night and into Monday morning. Most areas won’t see any accumulation of out this, but the higher terrain of the Finger Lakes may pick up a coating of wet snow into Monday.
Scattered lake effect snow showers will fall off and on Monday, but any accumulation will be very limited, and confined to grassy surfaces, not roadways. That may begin to change on Tuesday. It’ll turn a little colder, and a wind shift will bring in some more focused bands of lake snow from Lake Ontario. Depending on the time of the day, these could potentially impact the morning commute with a few squalls. The First Alert Weather Team will monitor the impact of the snow, and may need to put up a Yellow Alert as a heads up for changing conditions on Tuesday.
