Prince William put his PR skills to work during a recent interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour as he skirted a personal question about the tensions within the Royal family.
Amanpour, 67, asked the Prince of Wales to expand on his recent comments about his plans for when he ascends the British throne.
"I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good. And I embrace that and I enjoy that change — I don’t fear it," William previously said during an appearance on Eugene Levy's The Reluctant Traveler.
During his Wednesday, November 5, chat with Amanpour at The Earthshot Prize Impact Assembly in Brazil, William, 43, said, "I think the Earthshot Prize is a classic example of change," after Amanpour pointed out there "has been a lot of change in [the Royal] family recently."
William continued, "Rather than talk about it, we're doing it. That's where I want it to be, is that, these people in here are the true, actual heroes of our time. Change will come by backing them, not by what I do. I want to surround myself with people who want to make change and do good in the world."
The world has been watching as the division in the Royal family seems to widen.
William's brother, Prince Harry, has distanced himself from the monarchy, moving with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children to California after stepping down as senior working members in 2020. In the years since, the strain on Harry's relationship with William and their father, King Charles III, has played out in the public eye.
More recently, however, Charles, 76, stripped his brother, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, of his royal titles and removed him from his royal residence due to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
William evidently did not want to broach such topics during his sitdown with Amanpour as they quickly pivoted back to his appearance on the Reluctant Traveler.
"You have to provide leadership and a vision that there’s good things to come and that it’s not all negative," William continued. "And for my children, particularly, knowing the planet’s going to be in a healthier, better state because of the brilliant people in this room is something that I love to tell them when they go to bed."
