Meghan Trainor took over The Grove and Hollywood tour bus for new music video

Popstar Meghan Trainor has turned Los Angeles into the backdrop for her music video for her new single “Still Don’t Care.” The singer was spotted filming in a lavender corsetted ensemble at The Grove and in other parts of Los Angeles.

Some of the moments that were shared on social media included the “Timeless” singer dancing with fans in front of the AMC, walking outside of the Cheesecake Factory, riding the trolley, bringing a flash mob to LA LA Land Cafe and even jumping into the mall’s iconic fountain. Rick Caruso, owner of The Grove, later shared on social media that Trainor is “the only person in the history of The Grove to perform in the fountain.”

Another TikToker posted a video of the spectacle, writing, “POV: I’m picking up my latte and walk into a Meghan Trainor flash mob.”

But it wouldn’t be Los Angeles if TMZ didn’t show up. Well, the TMZ Celebrity Tour, to be more exact. The bus tour happened to pass the singer as she was filming with her crew on the sidewalk. After TMZ informed her it was one of the riders’ birthdays, Trainor wished them a happy birthday and told them, “I have a new song coming out next week,” before jumping on the tour bus and taking a photo with the birthday girl. Trainor’s production team utilized the moment and had the pop star do a catwalk on the bus, singing the chorus of her next single.

After her packed day in Los Angeles, Trainor teased the first official snippet of her new single on social media. “My inner monologue lately,” she wrote on the screen of the video, with the caption “just warming up #stilldontcare.”

The video included a snippet of the new song, with Trainor lip-syncing the following lyrics:

“Say I’m doing too much, and you’re probably right. That’s the same s— I’ve heard my whole life. Said I was too thick, then I got way too thin. And then I tried to stand out, but I want to fit in. You’re a little too loud. Stretch marks on your skin. Can’t believe you’re still here. Girl, where have you been? Oh, let me take a moment, think it over, does it touch me at all? Nope. I still don’t care.”

On Tuesday, Trainor shared another clip of the new song with the label, “real things people have said to me,” as she sang along. In the video’s caption, she wrote, “and the chorus is my response.”

The lyrics appear to address commentary surrounding Trainor’s experience with public scrutiny. The hitmaker became an overnight sensation in 2014 when she released “All About That Bass.” The song instantly became a chart-topping body positivity anthem. Since then, Trainor has released 5 studio albums, scored the Grammy Award for Best New Artist, and served as a judge on Australian Idol.

Trainor has been transparent with fans about her health journey, sharing workout updates as well as opening up about her decision to go on GLP-1 medication after her second child.

Like most artists, Trainor has continued to perform her breakout hit, “All About That Bass,” on her tour, but with that has come criticism on social media. During her Wango Tango performance in Huntington Beach in May, Trainor changed up the lyrics to make light of how her body looks different from when she first stepped onto the scene in 2014. Instead of singing “ya it’s pretty clear, I ain’t no size two,” she swapped the latter to say “I’ve got some new boobs.”

The updated lyrics were met with mixed reactions. Fans of the singer were supportive, while others were more critical. “Yea, she needs to change more words, lol, or maybe retire the song, cause now she is a silicone Barbie doll,” wrote one user, nodding to other lyrics from the song that remained unchanged.

Trainor’s new anthem “Still Don’t Care” drops Wednesday, Nov. 12.
