ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert remains up Wednesday evening for gusty winds and the potential for thunder late evening. A cold front moving through will continue to keep the winds whipping through about 9 or 10PM, with peak gusts between 40-50 mph. This isn’t expected to cause widespread issues, but some isolated power outages are possible due to smaller or weak limbs breaking. Once the colder air begins to move in, some lake effect showers will become established late Wednesday evening. A few stronger showers may produce graupel, hail or small ice pellets, along with the slight chance of some thunder.
The wet and windy weather moves away by Thursday morning. A few lingering lake rain (or wet snow showers) may be around first thing, but then we clear them out and some sun will return. Winds will also be noticeable in the morning, but ease into the afternoon.
Friday starts off dry, but another batch of rain will be moving in pretty quickly. It’ll be another breezy day, but winds don’t look like they’ll be as strong.
Saturday will be the drier weekend day, with nothing more than a passing rain shower. Sunday will turn wet with yet another storm system moving in. It’ll turn breezy again, with a much colder wind blowing in late. It’ll be cold enough for a few flurries or lake snow showers on Monday, but Tuesday will likely be the more wintry day, with a better chance at some minor accumulations off of Lake Ontario.
