ABC’s Golden Bachelor/ette spinoff of its flagship Bachelor franchise is a hit with viewers — and fans are already asking what’s next for the franchise as Mel Owens’ two-part season 2 finale begins Wednesday, November 5.
After more than twenty years of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette following younger singles, The Golden Bachelor flipped the script by proving that love stories don’t stop at 60.
Below, here’s everything we know so far about The Golden Bachelor season 3 — from potential renewal plans to who could hand out the next golden rose.

The franchise launched in September 2023 with the debut of Gerry Turner’s season, which captivated audiences with emotional backstories. Turner ended the season engaged to Theresa Nist, and the two went on to marry before later divorcing.
How the Golden Franchise Expanded
Following the success of Turner’s journey, ABC continued the experiment with The Golden Bachelorette in 2024, led by Joan Vassos, and then circled back to The Golden Bachelor for season 2, starring retired NFL linebacker and attorney Mel.
Mel's season, which premiered in September 2025, concludes with a two-part finale airing November 5 and November 12 on ABC — beginning with his overnight dates with finalists Cindy Cullers and Peg Munson.

As of now, ABC has not officially renewed The Golden Bachelor for Season 3. However, there are plenty of signs the franchise will continue.
Golden cast members have already crossed over, with several contestants from both first seasons of the spinoff appearing on season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise — proving that viewers are still deeply invested in these later-in-life love stories.
When Would The Golden Bachelor Season 3 Premiere?
If the network sticks to its alternating schedule between The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette in the fall TV season, the next Golden Bachelor would likely premiere in fall 2027.
That means a new Golden Bachelorette season would likely air in fall 2026, continuing the rotation that ABC has followed with the franchise.

No casting news has been announced yet. Mel's selection was unveiled in April 2025, roughly three months before filming began and five months before the premiere.
For reference, Joan was chosen directly from Gerry's pool of contestants — but Mel Owens was a newcomer, not previously part of Bachelor Nation.
That leaves the door open for either a fan-favorite from a past Golden season or an entirely new face to step into the spotlight if season 3 eventually arrives. Honestly, we think bringing in a new face had mixed results because viewers didn't know Owens and he made a major faux pas right at the start with his comments about the contestants' ages.

The franchise is once again bringing in a new face for The Bachelorette season 22, which tapped Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul as its lead rather than a previous contestant from The Bachelor anchoring the new season. We wouldn't mind if ABC decided to use one of Owens' women as the next Golden Bachelorette and then used one of her top finishers as the next Golden Bachelor because it's nice having that built-in relationship with the lead.
Who Could Be the Next Golden Bachelorette?
If the franchise continues alternating between Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelorette seasons, 2026 will likely bring a second Golden Bachelorette — and fans already have strong opinions about who should lead it.
Based on our poll, Golden Bachelor viewers want (in order) Cheryl Steele, Debbie Siebers or finalist Peg to lead the next season of The Golden Bachelorette. Obviously, if Munson is the winner of Mel's season, she would be out (unless their relationship goes south and they decide to give her a second chance at love). But we also think Cindy would make a good Golden Bachelorette. There are some great choices from Owens' season.
ABC has not confirmed whether the next lead will come from Mel’s cast or elsewhere, but as The Golden Bachelor’s first season proved, there’s no shortage of compelling women ready for their second chance at love.

The Golden Bachelor airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, but the two-hour finale on November 12 starts at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, with next-day streaming available on Hulu.
What’s Next for the Golden Franchise?
Even without an official renewal, fans are interested in more seasons of the Golden spinoffs. Also, we would love to see more Goldens on Bachelor in Paradise, if that returns in summer 2026.
