While sitting down for an interview during the Tuesday, Nov. 4 episode of Colbert's late-night program, Michelle made a quip about the White House's East Wing, which Trump's administration recently had demolished to make room for his extravagant new ballroom.
As soon as Colbert made a comment about the East Wing, Michelle chimed in to quip, "Remember that?"
The witty remark from the former first lady elicited a roar of applause and laughter from the audience, while Colbert also joined in on the joke by adding, "Vaguely."

A former resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Michelle has a unique perspective on the purpose of the East Wing, which traditionally housed the first lady's office.
Explaining the significance of the space, Michelle told Colbert, "That's where life happened."
"The west wing was work. Sometimes it was sadness, it was problems. It was the guts of the White House," she said. "The East Wing was where you felt light."
With the demolition of the East Wing, Trump plans to build a 90,000 square-foot ballroom intended to host major functions and events.
The project is expected to be completed by the time Trump's term ends in 2029.
