"You know what’s cool? VOTING! You know what’s even cooler? Voting for someone I know has integrity," Gilbert, 61, began her update. "Someone I know has compassion. Someone I know who’s wise. Today I had the pleasure of voting for my dear friend @johnnybanger."

Gilbert continued of Town of Highland Supervisor John Pizzolato, "He’s running to be re-elected as town supervisor. He’s also running with a slate of bi-partisan candidates. They stand as an example of people from different parts of the political spectrum, actually working together to make our town a better place."

She concluded her post—which featured a picture of herself with an "I Voted" sticker on her forehead as her dog licked her cheek—by sharing, "Oh how [I] wish the rest of the country would follow their lead. I’m so tired of the bitterness and hatred. I miss respectful debate. Here’s hoping it’s not gone forever."
