Whilst Barcelona do not intend to bring their former player back, they will closely monitor whether his move to England materialises in 2026. As part of the agreement with Palmeiras, the club retained a clause that gives them entitlement to 20 percent of any future sale. This means that if Roque were to move to Manchester United for €50m, Barcelona would receive €10m.

It will be interesting to see when Roque returns to European football, because this will almost certainly happen in the coming years. He has been performing at a high level in Brazil since the start of the calendar year and surely believes he could transfer that to the Premier League. It will also be interesting to see whether Barcelona ultimately regret their lack of patience with this talent.

Vitor Roque joined Barcelona in 2024 from Brazilian club Athletico-PR for €30m (£26m). That same year, however, he went on loan to Real Betis, where he also failed to settle and returned to Brazil as early as February 2025.
