CHSAANow.com and MaxPreps released high school softball all-state teams Monday.
Unsurprisingly, the teams are full of local representation.
Most notably, University senior right-handed pitcher/infielder Sydney Goetzel was named the Class 3A player of the year, while her coach, Chris Hutton, was named the classification’s coach of the year.
The Bulldogs capped a 27-2 campaign with a dramatic 5-4 win against Eaton in the title game Oct. 25 in Aurora. It was University’s second state softball title in school history.
All-state teams — and player and coach of the year honors — are based on votes by coaches from throughout the state.

Eaton sophomore pitcher/outfielder Kenzie Braddy was named to the 3A second team, as were University sophomore catcher/shortstop Kamzee Kern and Bulldogs junior outfielder/second baseman/catcher Emma Zacheis.
A long list of local 3A honorable mentions consists of: University sophomore catcher/infielder Bergen Duarte, Valley junior first baseman/pitcher Danica Flesner, Resurrection Christian sophomore Taylor Francis, Weld Central senior catcher Jadeyn Sifuentes and University junior outfielder/pitcher/utility player Kenzie Wyatt.

Windsor was the state runner-up to Holy Family, finishing its campaign with a 26-3 record.
Severance sophomore right-handed pitcher/shortstop Katie Thomas was also named to the 4A first team. Her senior Silver Knights teammate Camryn Henneke earned a spot on the 4A second team.
Roosevelt senior Cali Bly was a 4A honorable mention, as were Severance freshman left fielder/catcher/infielder Kenzy Henneke, Roosevelt senior Roz Muguerza, Windsor junior Shannon Nielsen, Northridge junior shortstop/second baseman Bo Tellez, Roosevelt senior Molly Vetter, Roosevelt senior Lily Wiese and Severance senior catcher/left fielder Carly Zentveld.
Greeley West senior infielder Iyanna Martinez was named a 5A honorable mention.
