A gas leak in downtown Los Altos required evacuations on Monday morning, authorities said.
An “audible” gas leak was reported around 10:17 a.m. in Parking Plaza North near First Street, indicating significant amounts of gas escaping. All residents and businesses in the downtown area were notified to evacuate and avoid the area between Foothill, Edith and Main until further notice.
Los Altos police and Santa Clara County Fire were working together to execute the evacuations.
