The Miami Dolphins are open for business ahead of the 2025 NFL Trade Deadline.
Tuesday’s 3 p.m. CT deadline for the NFL Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching, and the Dolphins are declaring they are open cut deals with teams. We’ll get to where the Chicago Bears fit into this momentarily, but first let’s share details of the deal new Dolphins Interim General Manager Champ Kelly (if that name sounds familiar to you, then I know that you are probably a long-time reader here) made with the Philadelphia Eagles:

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) November 3, 2025The Dolphins are sending pass-rusher Jaelan Phillips (who the Trib’s Brad Biggs connected the dots as a possible Bears trade target) to the Eagles in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. This is the third trade that Philly has made in recent days. As ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes above, the Eagles have also acquired cornerbacks Michael Carter II and Jaire Alexander in deals that have occurred in recent days. I hate that the Bears’ Black Friday opponent is getting better. But now that we know Miami is down to make deals, maybe Chicago’s front office can get in on the action.
The Miami Dolphins are Open for Business at the NFL Trade Deadline (Hello, Bears?)
In case you missed it during the chaos that was a wild NFL Week 9 across the board, a report surfaced that the Chicago Bears were expected to be “aggressive” at the NFL Trade Deadline. NFL on FOX insider Jay Glazer added that the team could be looking for help on the defense — and made a specific mention of pass rush help.
THE CHICAGO BEARS WILL REPORTEDLY BE “AGGRESSIVE” AT THE NFL TRADE DEADLINE
Assistance of the edge already figured to be high on the Bears’ wish list, but that need might be amplified depending on the severity of defensive lineman Dayo Odeyingbo’s ankle injury. Even with a healthy Odeyingbo, Chicago was going to need defensive line help. Hence, my reasoning for expanding the Jaelen Phillips trade news into an entire post. That trade highlights what it could cost for the Bears to make a deal for that type of player. In other words, keep that deal in mind as this trade deadline takes shape.
For what it’s worth, the Dolphins have another edge defender who could interest the Bears. Bradley Chubb is a 29-year-old two-time Pro Bowler who has 4 sacks, 7 quarterback hits, and 5 tackles-for-loss in nine games this season. Chubb missed the 2024 season due to a torn ACL, but was electric (11 sacks, 11 tackles-for-loss, 22 quarterback hits in 16 games) in 2023.
This wouldn’t be the first trade deadline in which Chubb was a potential trade headliner. Back in 2022, the Dolphins sent a 2023 first-round pick, a 2024 fourth-rounder, and running back Chase Edmonds to the Denver Broncos to acquire Chubb and a 2025 fifth-round pick. I wouldn’t be on board sending a first-rounder to Miami for a version of Chubb that is three years older. But I am open to hearing what the cost of doing business would be to upgrade the pass rush.

Given the Bears’ familiarity with the Dolphins from when the two teams were holding joint sessions back in August, I wonder if there is someone on Miami’s roster who stood out to Head Coach Ben Johnson, Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen, or General Manager Ryan Poles.
Back in September, when the idea of the Bears trading for a running back was alluring, De’Von Achane — Miami’s top ball-carrier — was a name that came up as a possble target. It might be tough to pry Achane from the Dolphins. And after watching what Kyle Monangai did on Sunday (and what D’Andre Swift had been doing before his injury), running back isn’t a top priority. Nevertheless, it is worth keeping tabs on what the Dolphins do at the deadline (and if the Bears are kicking the tires).
