No victory parade for winning maiden World Cup, BCCI to plan event for India Women after ICC meeting

India women’s cricket team’s historic victory won’t get celebrated for now. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team had clinched a maiden World Cup trophy, ending a 47-year drought with no ICC event wins to their name. But the celebration will have to wait.

No victory parade for India Women

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed that there won’t be any victory parade. After the men’s team won the 2024 T20 World Cup and end a 11-year trophyless drought, they received a parade in Mumbai. But the women’s team won’t get it, at least not right now.

“Nothing like a victory parade is planned as of now,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told IANS.

“I’m leaving for Dubai to attend the ICC meeting. Several officials are heading there as well, so once we return, we will plan accordingly. We will take up the Asia Cup trophy matter with the ICC and hopefully get our trophy back with the respect and honour it deserves,” he added.
