Texas A&M loses long-time commitment from 4-star edge

Texas A&M is enjoying a dream season on the field this fall, with a No. 3 ranking and an 8-0 record as November hits.

But while the Aggies were watching everybody else play on Saturday while they had a bye, there was recruiting news coming out of College Station, and it wasn’t good. Four-star edge rusher Jordan Carter told On3 on Saturday afternoon that he was decommitting from Texas A&M, which is a huge blow to the Aggies’ defensive line room for the 2026 season.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound product of Douglasville, Ga., was committed to Texas A&M since October 2024, so after believing that Carter was coming to College Station for the past year, his plans have changed and the Aggies’ 2026 recruiting class has taken a sudden, massive hit.

And suddenly, there are a lot of programs who are back in play for Carter’s services. Carter has 50 offers right now, and that number could be rising now that he has officially decommitted from Texas A&M.

BREAKING: Four-Star EDGE Jordan Carter has Decommitted from Texas A&M, he tells me for @rivalsThe 6’4 265 EDGE from Douglasville, GA had been Committed to the Aggies since October 2024He currently holds 50 offers t.co/fsxHgFzjrm pic.twitter.com/2FXBLMJJLr

Carter is the 139th-ranked player in the Class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is also the 17th-ranked edge rusher in the class and the 18th-ranked player from the state of Georgia.

The loss of Carter means that Texas A&M currently has 26 commits in its 2026 recruiting class. The 247Sports Composite rankings still have the Aggies’ 2026 class ranked 6th in the country, so next year’s class is still viewed as being strong, just not quite as strong as it was 1 day ago.
