Summer Juniors finalist Lucas Ackermannhas sent his verbal commitment to Texas A&M University for the class of 2026.
I am extremely grateful and excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M! Firstly I want to praise God for all he has done. Ackermann is from Franklin, Indiana where he attends Franklin Community High School as a senior this year.
At the 2025 IHSAA Boys State Championship, Ackermann earned a runner-up finish in the boy’s 100 breaststroke, swimming 54.71 to set a new personal best time in the event. He also earned an 8th place finish in the 200 IM, setting a new best time of 1:50.71 in prelims.
He swims club for the Franklin Regional Swim team, and at the 2025 Summer Junior Nationals Championships, he qualified for finals in all three breaststroke events. He ended up finishing 4th overall in the 200 breaststroke, touching in a new personal best 2:14.88 to drop six seconds from his preseason best of 2:20.35. He also finished 16th in the 50 (28.72 prelims), 30th in the 100 (1:04.13 prelims).
Earlier this month, Ackermann swam at the first stop of the AQUA World Cup in Carmel, with his highest finish coming in the 200 breast, where he touched in 2:17.56 SCM.

100 breast- 54.71 200 breast- 2:00.81 200 IM- 1:50.71Texas A&M competes in the SEC, where their men’s team finished 5th at last year’s conference championships, coming in at 790 points, just six points behind Georgia’s 796.5 for 4th. They also finished 12th at the 2025 NCAA Championships, scoring 95.5 points.
Ackermann has been on a steep improvement curve, dropping four seconds in his 100 breaststroke both of the last two seasons. If he continues on that curve, he will be a huge addition to the Aggie breaststroke program. Right now, he will be a strong depth swimmer for the team with his 100 breaststroke coming in 7th on last season’s depth chart, his 200 breast coming in 11th, and his 200 IM coming 13th.
His long course 200 breaststroke time converts to 1:57.51, which would have been 8th on last year’s depth charts.
He will join Clark Coyle, Gideon Swan, and Wyatt Vitiello on campus next fall.
