CHESTER, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- The Chester Park School Complex was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after a man crashed his vehicle in a wooded area near one of the four schools and ran toward the school, according to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office.
PREVIOUS: Man detained after school goes into lockdown near ChesterOfficials said the man, identified as D'arrius Edwards, approached the school and entered the school’s outdoor playground.
The sheriff said that Edwards allegedly used his head to break a classroom window. Edwards then grabbed a student through the window.
The sheriff’s office said that the School Resource Officer assigned to the complex received a report of Edwards running from the wooded area towards the school and responded to the area. The officer used his taser to "neutralize the threat."
Deputies searched and found the building to be clear. Deputies did not find any “additional areas or persons of concern" inside the school.
The sheriff's office says the student is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff said that Edwards and the child did not know each other.
